Getting Solar PV System Vs Solar System With Battery

You might have heard about solar batteries whenever you think about switching to solar panels in 2021. This is because solar batteries allow you to get more output from your solar panel system.

It is very important to enjoy the benefits of the battery attached to your system as you are paying the extra costs for getting a battery. So there are certain things that should be considered while deciding whether to get a battery or not for your solar PV system and which will be the best battery for you.

1. When do you use electricity?

The maximum power you can get is through maximising the power usage in your home so that you can be less dependent on your power company for electricity. As you will be producing your own electricity through your solar PV system.

Most of our electricity is used during the daytime as the sun energy is maximum during day hours. So a battery is there which helps you to store the excess electricity and use it even when your system is not producing electricity. The battery exports the excess electricity to the grid and you will be paid less. If you don’t have a solar battery then you have to buy electricity for the evening as well.

So if you are not using much electricity during the daytime then a battery might be good for you to store your electricity for future usage.

2. Is blackout protection important to you?

The best part of producing your own electricity is that you don’t have to be dependent on the grid. So the battery as we said earlier is essential for storing your generated excess electricity for future usage decreasing your dependency on the grid system.

A battery is so much important that it totally makes you independent for producing your own electricity. This also helps during blackout days or in any electrical emergency situations.

You must check that the battery which you buying or using comes with blackout protection so that you can provide power to your home during the blackout or any electrical emergencies. This will help you to keep your house lights on even when the others don’t have power.

3. Will you choose to add a battery in the future?

If you are still confused about getting a solar battery then you can start by getting solar panels installed first then think of adding a battery later on as per your requirement. Whenever you are sure about adding a battery, you can ask your installer to get a battery-ready inverter so that it will become easier for you with the installation process and to add one.

Many people are worried about the cost of adding a battery along with the system. So it is better to get an idea about how much will it cost to add a battery at the time of installing the solar panels or how much will it cost if the battery is added afterwards. Also installing a battery at the time of installing the panels will cut out the extra installation costs and provides a shorter payback period.
